Keppel Singmarine Improves Engineering and Design Productivity for Intergraph Smart™ 3D-designed Flagship Vessel

Leading Singaporean shipyard Keppel Singmarine boosted its engineering and design productivity using Intergraph Smart™ 3D for a recently completed flagship vessel for its client, McDermott International (McDermott). A naming ceremony will be held April 14, 2016 to officially launch the DLV 2000 as a class 3 dynamically positioned vessel.
As part of McDermott’s global offshore pipelay and construction fleet, the DLV 2000 combines a 2,200-ton revolving crane with a deepwater S-lay pipelay system configured to install pipelines with diameters ranging from 4.5 to 60 inches in water depths up to 10,000 feet. It can accommodate up to 400 personnel to facilitate large hook-up and commissioning projects and incorporates a large, open deck of 43,000 square feet to allow the transportation and assembly of large subsea structures; enabling safe and efficient stand-alone operations in remote areas.
The vessel has also been designed and constructed to accommodate a deepwater, 500-ton flexlay system that can be installed, at a future date, in response to specific market needs.
After a competitive evaluation process, Keppel Singmarine selected next-generation design solution Smart 3D to execute the engineering design work for the DLV 2000.
