3 reasons why project controls are an executive issue

If you are a leader in an organization that executes major projects, it’s likely that you have a busy agenda for 2016. We are doing business in challenging times and that is a situation that is expected to continue for the foreseeable future. However, if you haven’t already done so, I urge you to add one more topic to your boardroom agenda this year: project controls.

Project controls are the systems and processes that organizations use to plan and manage project portfolios, control project costs, and improve project performance. But why should executives care about them? I have identified three main reasons:

  1. Because productivity and minimization of overheads is at the top of the executive agenda
  2. Because you care about the health of your entire organization
  3. Because innovation is an executive issue
