KEPCO Engineering & Construction Selects Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise for Nuclear Power Plant Design
Korean engineering company implements integrated engineering solution, including SmartPlant 3D, to enable effective change management and reduce construction rework05 June 2013
KEPCO Engineering & Construction (KEPCO E&C), an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company based in South Korea, has selected Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise solutions for the engineering design of nuclear powerplants.
KEPCO E&C is a Korean EPC for the power industry, and it has been focused on growing its nuclear power projects globally. The company determined that it needed a sophisticated, intelligent engineering system that could meet the strict safety and construction quality requirements for nuclear power plants. In particular, an integrated engineering approach was a must for international projects to ensure consistency of nuclear power plant design.
After a comprehensive technical evaluation, KEPCO E&C chose Intergraph’s integrated suite of SmartPlant Enterprise solutions, including SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant Review, SmartPlant Instrumentation, SmartPlant P&ID, SmartPlant Electrical and SmartSketch®. In its benchmark process, SmartPlant Enterprise performed the best, with SmartPlant Enterprise’s integration and interoperability capabilities proving to be the perfect fit for KEPCO E&C’s project requirements. The company plans to apply the Intergraph system to several nuclear power plant projects. With SmartPlant Enterprise, KEPCO E&C can easily integrate with other tools and systems to enable effective change management and reduce construction rework for its nuclear power projects.
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, “We are pleased to partner with KEPCO E&C, and we will work closely with the Korean EPC to support its international nuclear power plant projects for enhanced safety, quality and productivity. Intergraph is the leading engineering design solution provider in the global power industry, and KEPCO E&C’s selection of SmartPlant Enterprise is further validation of our leadership position in Korea and around the world.”
