HOUSTON, Texas, May 23, 2017
Intergraph® Process, Power & Marine (PP&M), part of Hexagon and a leading global provider of enterprise engineering software to the process, power and marine industries, recently presented a workshop demonstrating the next generation of 3D engineering and design at the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) in Houston.
The Houston facility is Microsoft’s first cloud-based Technology Center and prominently showcases the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and services. Houston MTC also is an Oil & Gas Center of Excellence, specializing in technologies for energy companies, many based in Houston and throughout the Gulf Coast region.
This exclusive event was geared toward construction managers, operations and turnaround managers, and engineering business relationship managers, with presentations focusing on new capabilities with holographic visualizations, managing digital assets and collaboration technologies.
Microsoft’s focus on 3D capabilities through Microsoft HoloLens, the first self-contained, holographic computer, is helping to transform how today’s engineers create, view and interact with mixed reality holograms. Experts from Intergraph PP&M and Microsoft demonstrated capabilities for capturing, presenting and collaborating on construction projects using this visualization technology with Intergraph Smart® 3D, the 3D design solution that lowers risk on today’s tight project schedules by offering high-quality designs to support the fabrication, construction and operational phases.
Topics covered during the workshop included:
- What’s new in holographic visualization?
- A demonstration of HoloLens for Smart 3D
- A first look at Intergraph Smart Digital Asset | Collaboration Module, a project collaboration platform that includes document control, technical queries, document quality assurance review and more
- Real-world cases using 3D technology
- Understanding data-centric engineering design capabilities
Intergraph Process, Power & Marine Executive Vice President for the Americas Region Don Brundage said, “Intergraph has always been at the forefront of advances in technology as the world’s leading provider of engineering software and plant design tools. Our alliance with Microsoft demonstrates to customers how today’s next-generation technology can help them design, construct and operate facilities of all complexities.”
Muge Wood, director, Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) in Houston said, “The Microsoft Technology Center allows us to work closely with partners like Intergraph PP&M to tell a story and demonstrate how technology can benefit customers. MTCs take Microsoft’s cloud services and make it real for customers by demonstrating how they can use it to transform their businesses. We demonstrate a new way to do business and create competitive differentiation for our customers.”
