PTT Research & Technology Institute to Deploy Intergraph® SmartPlant® Solutions

Plant ‘scale up’ project to drive innovation and development in Southeast Asia’s process industry

13 giugno 2016

Thailand’s PTT Research & Technology Institute (PTT RTI) will use a range of Intergraph® SmartPlant® design and modeling solutions on a key process engineering research and development (R&D) project in 2016.

The announcement comes following the successful implementation of the solutions across PTT RTI’s Petroleum and Petrochemical Process Technology Research Department in 2015. Researchers are now using a next-generation 3D design solution, Intergraph Smart™ 3D; a piping and instrument diagram manager, SmartPlant P&ID; and an instrument design solution, SmartPlant Instrumentation, to create preliminary design models and basic design deliverables.

Researchers will use the solutions on a key R&D project in 2016 to expedite the transition from a laboratory-scale to pilot-scale unit, where the innovations developed will be ’scaled up‘ to enable testing on a larger, more complex pilot-scale unit.

“We have been satisfied with the performance of Intergraph’s SmartPlant design and modeling solutions and are looking forward to using them on this upcoming project,” said Dr. Thana Sornchamni, headof the Process Design & Simulation Research Group in PTT RTI’s Petroleum and Petrochemical Process Technology Research Department. “Furthermore, the training and on-the-ground support provided by Intergraph and its partner in Thailand, Neon Infotech, helped our researchers to become thoroughly familiar with the tools very quickly.”

Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, “PTT RTI is one of Southeast Asia’s foremost R&D institutes, so Intergraph is pleased to be playing a part in this key project to drive process industry innovation.”

Intergraph’s SmartPlant Enterprise offers a powerful portfolio of industry-leading, best-in-class design and data management solutions, enabling companies in the process, power and marine industries to capture integrated engineering knowledge at the enterprise level for the competitive advantage needed in today’s and tomorrow’s market.
