Intergraph® SmartMarine® Enterprise takes center stage at ICCAS 2011
Integration, change management and construction processes will be key in the near future of offshore and shipbuilding technology24 Oktober 2011
Intergraph®, the leading global provider of enterprise engineering software, has actively participated at the bi-yearly International Conference on Computer Applications in Shipbuilding (ICCAS), which took place recently in Trieste, Italy. Intergraph presented four papers: “True Benefits of 3D Design with SmartMarine®”, “Neutral XML Interface”, “Capital Project Life Cycle Versus Project Life Cycle for Marine Projects” and “Applying Agile Methodologies to Marine Implementation Projects”, each presentation attracting several dozen of industry visitors. Several Intergraph customers also presented papers where the benefits of SmartMarine Enterprise achieved were highlighted.
ICCASwas a relevant platform to show Intergraph’s efforts to improving the use of the IT technology for the benefit of the marine industry.
In addition, Intergraph organized a SmartMarine Enterprise Seminar in Croatia on September 19, which was a rewarding prelude to the ICCAS conference. During this seminar, led by Intergraph experts, attendees participated in an open discussion about the way that Intergraph is approaching the ‘marine market worldwide’, witha particular focus on the subcontracting in the shipbuilding and offshore design for production. Intergraph presented its innovative ship and offshore design solutions recently selected by top companies in the sector.
Many managers advanced that design companies will be preparing themselves to actively participate in marine projects that specify SmartMarine Enterprise solutions as their platform for their collaborative engineering.
In line with the industry main interest, Intergraph will keep its focus on technology integration, change management and the visualization of construction processes. Igor Juricic, Intergraph business development manager for offshore and marine, explains that particular attention is given to expand the control over the changes along the full design-to-production process, which is spanning well into materials management and the activities in the yard. “To reach the goal, SmartMarine Enterprise has been enriched with the functionalities offered by SmartPlant Construction, which are applicable to the offshore and marine industry, coupled with the information management and planning tools offered by SmartPlant Foundation and SmartPlant Materials”, explains Juricic.
Intergraph’s SmartMarine Enterprise suite is the world’s most advanced, integrated offshore and shipbuilding solution, driving improvements in design efficiency, production schedule, handover, and overall life-cycle cost control for enhanced global competitiveness. Intergraph is a world leader in marine structure design and data management, endorsed and used by the world’s leading offshore and marine companies, including the most productive shipyard, the top offshore owner operator, the top fabrication yard, and the top classification society in the world. At the heart of SmartMarine Enterprise is SmartMarine 3D, the world’s most advanced offshore and shipbuilding design solution.
Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, “SmartMarine 3D is one of our fastest-growing products this year. The selection of SmartMarine Enterprise by sector-leading companies is an example of how industry leaders more than ever recognize that our solutions enable them to become more productive and competitive. This reinforces Intergraph’s growing market share inthe global offshore and marine industry”.
The ARC Advisory Group, a leading industry analyst firm, ranked Intergraph the No. 1 overall engineering design 3D software and process engineering tools (PET) provider worldwide according to its “PET Worldwide Outlook Market Analysis and Forecast through 2015.”
