Digitally Transforming Systems and Design Management at CSD&M 2018

EcoSys, Project Controls

Hi Jean-Luc and Hans! You and the Hexagon PPM France team will be attending the CSD&M Paris on Dec. 19. Could you tell us a bit more about the event?

The Complex Systems Design & Management (CSD&M) conference is an event dedicated to sharing information and best practices on managing complex engineering systems. The audience consists of academic researchers as well as industrial and governmental actors.

The focus for this year’s conference is “Products and Services Development in a Digital World”.

This year’s conference focus is Digital World; what do you see as the key for successfully managing complex engineering systems in a digitalized environment?

Digital transformation is the biggest challenge industries are facing since the automation revolution of the end of the 20th century. One of the key challenges is that technology is developing faster than the ability to understand how to make the most of it. The key for success in the coming years will be how well and fast you can adopt new technologies that capture reality, making it available in the digital world as well.

Hexagon PPM is sponsoring CSD&M this year; what type of topics are you looking forward to discussing during the event?

This event focuses on digital transformation for engineering. We are especially looking forward to discussing some of the topics that will be presented during the thematic tracks, including how to use a collaborative framework for project design groups to reduce project cost & duration, as well as how to manage new product development portfolios for maximizing project outcomes. I am also keen on sharing best practices and thoughts on how to build a digital twin of the industrial assets for better operations and maintenance.

Furthermore, we are very interested in showcasing the importance of digitalizing engineering deliverables and improving project predictability to any attendee visiting our booth.

What can the attendees visiting the Hexagon PPM booth expect?

Hexagon's PPM division is the world's leading provider of asset life cycle solutions for design, construction, and the operation of industrial facilities. By transforming unstructured information into a smart digital asset, we empower our clients to visualize, build, and manage structures and facilities of all complexities, ensuring safe and efficient operation throughout the entire life cycle. By visiting our booth, attendees will learn more about our global solution offering and discover how we can work together to digitalize their engineering activities.
