Germany’s Covestro plans to execute digitalized plant operations within two years, a goal that covers the entire digitalization program for engineering, operations and maintenance activities.
This is a sizable undertaking, even for a company as successful and innovative as Covestro. So, how will the world-leading supplier of high-tech polymer materials do this without disrupting their production cycle? Covestro’s products are all around us. Chances are that the computer or phone you’re reading this on, the shoes or cosmetics you’re wearing, and the car you drove this morning were made with Covestro raw materials.
I am proud to say that this is where Hexagon PPM enters the story. We are now Covestro’s technology partner to facilitate the digitalization of the engineering and operations landscape.
To do this, the company purchased our 2D/3D design tools and information management solutions, as well as construction and supply chain management products.
Stephan Krebber – program director for digitalization of production and technology – said the “OSI2020” (Optimized System Integration) program aims to implement digitalized plant operations by 2020.
“We chose Hexagon PPM as one of our digital transformation partners for the IPEP (integrated plant design and engineering platform) project to help us to digitalize our work processes and asset information,” Krebber said when announcing his Covestro’s partnership with us.
We will enhance the company’s existing asset documentation management practices, addressing duplicated data entry, delayed information exchange between engineering disciplines, manual work efforts, as well as insufficient possibilities for data analysis.
By digitalizing its asset information, which will be one of the steps toward becoming a fully digital enterprise, Covestro expects to realize multiple benefits across all lifecycle stages.
We are honored that Covestro selected Hexagon PPM to usher it through this process.
