Chilean Mining Company Saves $5 Million Using Hexagon PPM

Antofagasta Minerals is one of the largest private mining companies in Chile, producing and selling copper and other minerals around the world.

Raul Romero works as a mechanical civil engineer for Antofagasta, and he implements large-scale mining projects for the company. One such megaproject is valued at $6 billion, with very high complexity.

In this video, Romero explains that the integration of disciplines - electrical, piping, structural - under the same concept will eliminate interference. By utilizing Hexagon PPM solutions, Antofagasta was able to drastically decrease the shut down time, which saved $5 million.

"That kind of saving justifies any expense in this kind of planning," he said.
