McDermott International’s flagship derrick lay vessel, the DLV 2000, has been honored with the coveted Best Ships Award for 2016 from America's leading maritime magazine, Marine Log.
Built by Keppel Singmarine and launched in February 2016, the McDermott DLV 2000 vessel was designed using Intergraph Smart 3D. All modeling, detailing, drawings, and production data was completed with the solution and shared with stakeholders across multiple offices in Singapore, Cebu (Philippines), and Nantong (China).
The vessel won the award based on its innovative features, design, and incorporation of breakthrough technologies.
After a competitive evaluation process, Keppel Singmarine selected next-generation design solution Smart 3D to execute the engineering design work for the DLV 2000. Smart 3D is an all-in-one solution for plant and marine design and engineering that employs a breakthrough engineering approach that leverages real-time concurrent design, rules, relationships, and automation. It is the most advanced and productive 3D design solution that effectively enables optimized design through globally distributed concurrent engineering, increasing safety, quality, and productivity, while shortening project schedules.
