Frank Joop discusses the breaking down of silos on this morning’s Coffee Break video. Integration between O/Os and EPCs has been addressed before, but Joop discusses integration on a smaller scale.
While he worked in the professional engineering community, Joop observed the closed off work flow between different teams on a project. The electrical engineers had their own budget, schedule and domain experience, just as the instrumentation engineers had their own. Joop saw groups wait until end stages to bring data to the table, and was counterproductive.
Joop suggests people utilize the modern tools today and enter the data into a single environment that every team has access to. This allows data to be quickly available for use and allows information to be checked against the rules of the project.
